Scotfield Preserve Event Venue

Scotfield Preserve Event Venue is a venue located in Eastern NC. It's a country club turned wedding and event venue that hosts parties of all kinds! During my time working as the general manager for Scotfield Preserve, I took it upon myself to work on the branding of the business. I made brochures, magazine ads, Facebook and Instagram posts, and worked to network the business in the marketing field in the area around the business.

Over the past year, my main goal was to take the exiting promotional material of Scotfield Preserve and find new ways to improve it with the editing and digital skills I have. My main focus has been on using Photoshop to enhance photography of the business. Another avenue I took during this job was to create physical material. I used the Abobe Creative Suite to make patterns, layouts, and pamphlets, as well as the rebranded elements that go along with Scotfield Preserve.

Branding Idenity

When I took this job, I was excited to create a whole new branding for this business. However, the first thing the owner of the business told me when I brought my design ideas to him, was that the logo and the color scheme cannot change. While disappointed at first, I honored his wishes and kept the logo as close to the original as possible. I chose Cormorant Garamond for the primary logo for its elegance and design, and I chose the sans serif Encode Sans as the header for its contrasting but clearly legible design. The bird was redone in Illustrator to keep it as a vector instead of a raster image, and I changed the color scheme slightly to introduce warm hues to the background.

Pamphlets and Cards

Every business needs promotional material to supplement their branding. Elegance is found in simplicity, therefore, I kept the designs clean and simple. The presentation speaks for itself, allowing the words on the material to take full focus. Our icon, the blue heron, makes a bold appearance on the back cover to give contrast and balance to the design.

Magazine Ad

I created an ad for the Lake Magazine that ran from July to September. While there were plans to expand and move on to other magazines, it was decided to run just one for now and see how effective it is for our audience. I kept the design simple to match our branding and make it stand out amist the cluttered magazine ads. The most important aspect was to show off pictures of what our venue was like and what kind of services you can host here, in the most asthetically pleasing way possible. This gives the audience tangible proof of our venue's excellence as well as appeal to our audience's desire for elegance and beauty. The goal was to show people we are a wedding venue first.

Additional Elements

In addition to the rebrand, I introduced a couple of motifs and elements to the brand identity. The gradient is to be used in a subtle manner and not as a focus. The border introduces an elegance feel to the material which nicely frames the key elements. The leaves symbolize Scotfield's unique selling point, nature. I wanted bring a rural charm to the identity of the business that the surrounding environment provides. I made the pattern completely in illustrator, using photos I took of foliage around the venue.
