Who is Fulkerson Design?
Hi, nice to meet you!
I am a graphic designer who creates branding materials and custom graphics for a living. I have over three years of experience in Adobe programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as subsequent experience in programs like Figma and Procreate. In additional to having experience in the traditional avenues of graphic design work, I also have had the privilege of having access to and some knowledge of the 3D modeling software Z Brush and the laser printer the Glowforge, which opens up a whole new avenue for what I can create with graphic design.
Design Work
I went to Liberty University for a degree in Studio and Digital Art with a minor in Creative Writing and formerly a minor in Business. During my time as an undergraduate at Liberty, I took on several non-academic design projects. My work to redesign the brand and website for the non-profit organization Klothes 4 Kids was one of my biggest non-academic design projects yet. I also participated in the 2023 SADA Marketplace’s workshop where I sold my own design I made with the Glowforge laser printer.
Experience and Skills
I served in a community-centered leadership role as a CGL on Liberty University’s campus during the 2021-2022 academic year, where I utilized interpersonal communication skills to encourage community on my dorm hall. I also served in a more managerial type leadership role when I co-hosted my church’s 2022 VBS event, where I coordinated with the volunteers, planned the schedule, and oversaw the creative direction of the event. The longest held job I have had was at Sylvan Heights Bird Park, where I was a part-time attendant at one of the exhibits.
Future Plans & Goals
My long term goal is to either become a freelancer graphic designer and publisher or to be hired on a team to work on any type of narrative-driven creative content, such as movies, TV shows, video games, and other avenues that are evolving in this technologically driven era. My short term goals is to narrow in on the field of branding for now to refine the techniques and skills I have learned in university. I choose branding as my current focus because I believe branding encompasses a lot of the core ideas behind the concept of graphic design, and so if I can master my branding, then I can master other types of graphic design much easier. Branding and creating brand materials is also enjoyable to me because it is art with a specific function in mind, one that the designer can craft to fit his/her vision.
